Pe timpul acestor ani de criză mondială, în Islanda s-a desfăşurat o revoluţie tăcută, paşnică ce a dus la eliberarea acestui mic stat de sub influenţa ocultei bancare mondiale.
În acest timp, în România, autorităţile repetau necontenit că singura soluţie pentru ţara noastră este un acord cu FMI, urmat de măsuri foarte dure de austeritate îndreptate împotriva populaţiei, pe care le ştim foarte bine, pentru că mulţi dintre noi le-am simţit pe propria piele.
Atunci când a fost vorba de revoltele din Tunisia, Egipt sau Libia, ori de mega înscenări de genul uciderii lui Osama Bin Laden, mass-media de pretutindeni şi de la noi nu au mai contenit cu relatările, reportajele şi dezbaterile televizate. În cazul Islandei însă a fost o tăcere totală.
Iată o traducere, care circulă pe Internet, a unui articol spaniol care prezintă derularea evenimentelor în cazul revoluţiei din Islanda:
În Islanda, ţara în care Guvernul a fost demis în totalitate, marile bănci au fost naţionalizate, s-a decis să nu se plătească datoria creată în Marea Britanie şi Olanda, din cauza politicii lor financiare rău intenţionate şi s-a creat un grup popular pentru a rescrie Constituţia.
Şi toate acestea paşnic. O revoluţie împotriva puterii care ne-a adus la criza actuală. De ce aceste fapte nu au devenit cunoscute de doi ani: Ce se întâmplă dacă alţi cetăţeni UE vor lua exemplu?
Iată pe scurt, istoria evenimentelor:
2008. Se naţionalizează cea mai mare bancă din ţară. Se prăbuşeşte moneda, bursa îşi suspendă activitatea. Ţara este în stare de faliment.
2009. Protestele populare din faţa Parlamentului fac să fie convocate alegeri anticipate şi provoacă demisia primului-ministru şi a membrilor Guvernului în bloc. Continuă situaţia economica nefavorabilă.
Printr-o lege se propune rambursarea datoriei către Marea Britanie şi Olanda având de plată suma de 3.500 de milioane de euro, o sumă pe care toate familiile islandeze să o plătească lunar pentru următorii 15 ani la 5,5% dobândă.

În acest context de criză, se alege o adunare pentru a elabora o nouă Constituţie care să includă lecţiile învăţate în urma crizei şi pentru a înlocui pe cea curentă, o copie a Constituţiei daneze. Pentru a face acest lucru, se merge direct la poporul suveran. Se aleg 25 cetăţeni fără afiliere politică, din 522 care şi-au depus candidaturile, pentru care era necesar să fie majori şi să aibă sprijinul a 30 de persoane.
Adunarea constituţională începe activitatea în februarie 2011. Prezintă un proiect de Constituţie bazată pe recomandările poporului din diverse reuniuni din întreaga ţară. Noua Constituţie trebuie să fie aprobată de către actualul Parlament şi de cel care se va forma după alegerile legislative.
