„The New York Times” scrie că în timp ce oficialii americani și din NATO celebrau activarea sistemului de apărare antirachetă din Europa, cu tăieri de paglici și fanfară, reacția Rusiei exprimată joi poartă riscurile unui război nuclear, căreia i-ar putea deveni victimă România, informeaza digi24.ro.
Publicația americană îl citează pe un comentator rus, Konstantin Bogdanov, care a scris pe Lenta.ru că bazele antirachetă din Europa de Est ar putea accelera chiar panta către un război nuclear în cazul unei crize.
„Vor deveni inevitabil ținte prioritare în eventualitatea unui război nuclear, posibil chiar ținte pentru lovituri preventive. Țări precum România, care găzduiesc sistemul antirachetă american, ar putea deveni singurele victime, în timp ce Statele Unite s-ar reconcilia apoi cu Rusia „pe ruinele fumegânde ale elementelor est-europene din scutul antirachetă”, a scris analistul rus.

Președintele Putin a avertizat că Rusia s-ar putea retrage din acest tratat, în timp ce Statele Unite au acuzat anul trecut Rusia că încalcă tratatul pentru că nu a declarat raza de acțiune reală a două tipuri de rachete, menționează New York Times.
